Cardiff Central MP, Jenny Willott has hit out at reports that Gordon Brown is to order Labour MPs to vote to exempt MPs’ expenses from the Freedom of Information Act.
She said: “This is an inexcusable attempt by the Labour Government to keep MPs’ expenses hidden from the public. The fact that Gordon Brown is ordering his MPs to support this motion is appalling. The public deserve total transparency over MPs’ expenses. This sordid move will only damage public trust in politicians.
“I, and my Welsh Liberal Democrat colleagues, will treat this motion with the contempt it deserves and vote against it. I urge Welsh Labour MPs to do the same.”
