Harrogate

Conference is cranking up for a day of fun in the halls after a errr night of fun in the bar.

Howard Dean will be speaking at lunchtime and then this afternoon we are heading for a heck of a debate on faith schools. I’ve put a card in to speak but that is no guarantee to be called.

Cardiff was a runner up at the LGA awards last night in the green council group of the year section. We won a couple years ago, I suppose you can’t be the bride every year. Congratulations to Newcastle who won the overall category and a special mention to Waltham Forest who overcame a bit of a year with the horrendous Miranda Grell case.

Last night the Lib Dem Youth and Student exec from 1999-2000 reunited for dinner. The progress has been none too shabby. There are loads of young Welsh Lib Dems up here too. The elections for Liberal Youth across the UK are currently in full flow. We recently completed them in Wales, where some competitive elections led to a cracking group of people getting elected. I’m sure we’ll be hearing more from them at our own conference in Cardiff next month.

I’ve been told lots of stories. Not one of them repeatable on here, even Peter Black told me they were inappropriate, so it’s got to be true. Boo. Must try harder.

Massive congratulations to Lord Roger Roberts who became a Grandad for the 7th time yesterday.

You can keep up to date with the goings on on twitterfall, the hashtag for conference is #ldconf
