The Welsh Liberal Democrats have published a paper to mark Kirsty Williams one hundredth day as leader. Writing in the document Kirsty says:
One of my first tasks was a Cabinet reshuffle which saw portfolios being realigned bringing a fresh look to the Assembly team – a team ready to fight for the people of Wales.
We exposed the housing scandal of £94 million being sent back to the Treasury from Wales with no representations having been made from the Welsh Government.
We uncovered the £500 million required to bring our hospitals up to a decent and safe standard.
We highlighted impracticalities of the Labour-Plaid backed European Working Time Directive, which would see fire protection cover put at risk all across Wales.
I have continued, through First Minister’s Questions, to press the government on some of the issues that matter most to the people of Wales during the economic recession:
The difficulty businesses have in accessing credit.
The government procurement programme which excludes many smaller Welsh businesses.
The bureaucracy that turns the scheme, designed to help struggling Businesses, into an eight stage obstacle course.
The under-funding of local government which continually threatens to cause council tax increases and service cuts across Wales.
The growing Higher Education funding gap and the uncertainty over top-up fees.
The cutbacks in Further Education which mean we will be failing to increase the skills level of the country when we need to more than ever.
