A brief scan of the Welsh Assembly’s on-line petition site has thrown up a curiosity that is bound to cause more problems for Ieuan Wyn Jones and his u-turning Assembly Members.
A petition has been lodged by the Plaid Cymru youth wing, Cymru X calling ‘upon the National Assembly for Wales to urge the Welsh Assembly Government to abolish tuition fees for Welsh domiciled students studying at Welsh higher education institutions.’
This is directly contrary to the recent decision by Plaid Cymru to abandon their principles and their manifesto by voting in favour of the introduction top-up fees in Wales.
It may well be of course that Cymru X think that this petition will help Plaid recover some of their credibility with young people and their parents but it is more likely to help prolong the agony for embattled Plaid Ministers.
We await the consideration of this petition with interest.
