The Federal Executive (FE) is the party’s governing body, comprising of directly elected members and representatives. It meets about every other month and is chaired by the party president, Ros Scott. I thought there was probably further work that the Welsh Rep could do on engaging with party members about what issues they would like to see discussed and on reporting back. Hat tip to the chair herself, Ros Scott started doing regular reports from FE earlier this year and prompted me in to action.
The FE meets on Monday and as the Welsh Rep I wanted to start briefing members about what is going to be discussed offering them the opportunity to tell me their views. I’ll also report back after each meeting. I’m well aware Freedom Central has an audience wider than our members but it is a useful way to provide information. I’ll be applying suitable discretion though.
FE receives a number of regular reports from groups such as the party’s Campaign for Gender Balance examining progress we are making in getting more women selected for seats. We also track progress against agreed Key Performance Indicators.
This time there is also a report looking at the presidential elections. Two particular suggestions caught my eye – one on the potential for the option of electronic voting to be introduced, the other on official hustings being organised in future. Both of these strike me as a good thing – but what do you think?
Finally, there is the option of discussing current political issues. As you would all expect, this time there will be a discussion on expenses.
Please let me know any thoughts you may have on alison AT alisongoldsworthy.co.uk or leave comments below. Bear in mind if you do it anonymously I (a) won’t know if you are a member of not and thus can’t attach an appropriate weight to its importance; and (b) can’t contact you for extra information.
Thanks
Ali
Welsh FE Rep
