Earlier this week, Kim Howells wrote a stinging attack letter to The Times, having a go at his own side of ‘youngish adults’ for putting their interests and egos before that of the party or the country. One could say, he had a point.
However he decided to attack them for using social media saying; ‘I am vaguely aware of some of the pressures contemporary life places on them: the sheer toil of blogging, twittering, trying to balance the competing attractions of exuding gravitas and fashion chic at the same time as running government departments‘. Now, whilst there isn’t much point in using a range of techniques to talk to people if your message or product is about as popular as a wet weekend; there is work to be applauded amongst our more technologically progressive ministers. As Kim doesn’t seem to have a website google can find, he may want to think about setting one up, so constituents can see what his views are and contact him about issues they want help with.
Earlier today I took the chance to talk to one of the Lib Dem’s very own ‘young adults’ who is using Facebook to talk to people and gather their views. This is what Lord Roger Roberts had to say about how he uses it
And why he uses it and thinks Government Ministers should
And how he ended up on Facebook to start with
You can add Roger Roberts as a Facebook friend.
