Speaking on Radio Wales just now the Secretary of State for Wales, Paul Murphy said that a system of recall for wrong-doing MPs was worth looking at.
However, he cautioned that there would need to be safeguards, after all he opined, most MPs do not get more than 50% of the vote and already have the majority of the electorate ranged in opposition to them.
He did not though go on to follow his own logic to its conclusion, namely that a proper system of fair voting involving the single transferable vote in multi-member constituencies would overcome that problem. It would also introduce a level of accountability into the system not currently present.
