Vaughan Roderick broke the news of his twitter that Adam Price was off to Harvard for a year. Clarification from others seems to suggest this means that he will be standing down as an MP (now confirmed by the BBC).
Update: Beeb story now online, he’s off to be a Fullbright scholar following in the footsteps of Rhodri Morgan, Charles Kennedy and a whole load of others.
What will this mean for Plaid?

That gives him a year to study, then back in time for the Assembly elections, maybe???
Assuming he starts in the fall semester of 2010 then I thought US courses normally finished later in May, which would make it hard.. being as you need to be on the electoral register and living in Wales to be an eligible candidate several weeks earlier..
He has confirmed in an interview with the South Wales Guardian that he does intend to try and get selected for an Assembly seat ready for 2011. Watch out Rhodri Glyn Thomas.
Even if there’s a bit of overlap in term times, that wouldn’t really matter in terms of studying or attending the Assembly. With enough savings and late nights that is easy to sort out…. but it would make campaigning somewhat difficult….
Ah ha yes seen that now. Anyway back to conference preparations.
