The Lib Dems (or more accurately from what I can work out a Lib Dem, Sam Lockwood) has adapted Ning to make a specific Lib Dem Social Network. You can check it out here.
In essence Ning allows you to create your own social networks and has the potential to be an extremely important campaigning tool, as networks are created around special interests. On sites like facebook networks tend to focus on schools, unis, workplaces etc. So for campaigners it can be incredibly useful for finding and empowering like minded people. There are 1.8 million people on Ning, and it’s growing.
If I was writing a press release now I’d insert a pun about getting in on the act. Fortunately, I’m not. So I’ll leave others to do that.
