Continuing the fight for Bronglais

Wednesday’s demonstration on the Senedd steps was a huge success and one of the largest in the history of the National Assembly for Wales. The estimated 800 plus who travelled to Cardiff have done Mid Wales very proud indeed and it was an honour to address the crowd and continue my longstanding support.

Together we have sent a firm and unwavering message to the Welsh Government and Hywel Dda that Bronglais District General Hospital must continue to hold its place at the centre of health provision for Mid Wales.

By continuing to argue our case in this way the Welsh Government are starting to pay attention. For too long they have brushed aside our concerns, repeatedly missed the point, and appeared dangerously misinformed and uninterested in the arguments we have made.

This demonstration by the people, clinicians and politicians of Mid Wales must never be dismissed my Ministers as scaremongering and political point scoring. This is about the provision of safe and effective health services within a safe distance of people’s homes. It is evidently clear that Hywel Dda LHB has utterly mishandled this process with Ministers in Cardiff Bay consistently refusing to intervene and hold them to account. We must not let this continue.
