School damage in RCT is appalling

Tonyrefail Primary School has flooded after flash leading was stolen. Thieves have caused tens of thousands of pounds worth of damage at the school in Rhondda Cynon Taf to school equipment, the building and pupils’ work.

I am appalled at the selfish, heartless and cowardly action of these individuals. Welsh schools are under enough pressure without having this kind of disruption.

Metal thieves are striking at the heart of our communities with serious impacts upon hospital operations, commuter journeys, community centres and our education system.

While a tightening of the law takes place we must rely on people reporting the criminals to police as a matter of urgency. I will also be talking to colleagues in Westminster about potentially going further.
