Carers Rights Day 2012

According to the 2001 Census, there are approximately 15,000 Carers in Powys but only about 1,800 of them are registered.

Today is Carers Rights Day, an important opportunity to recognise the hard work put in by so many who support their friends and relatives – despite the ever increasing financial strains of everyday life.

Many people do not realise that they are Carers and are therefore not aware of the support available to them. I would therefore encourage all those who care for someone in their day-to-day lives to register with Powys Carers Service in order to ensure that Carers are recognised, valued, and receive the support they are entitled to.
